The Judas tree is in full bloom in Spring at the time of the Christian celebration of Easter! All its branches are completely covered with pink flowers; it truly looks magical! 

According to tradition, this is the tree that Judas Iscariot the Apostle used to hang himself after betraying Jesus. It is said that the tree’s flowers used to be white until this sad event after which they turned pink in shame!

This tree is found everywhere in Malta.
